Hi. I decided to start up a new piece while I'm waiting for the layers on my cardinal to dry before I finish that one. This is going to be a limited palette piece of a low flying Egret over some hypnotic water. Going for design over all else with this one. I decided to draw out everything in graphite before I put a clear coat of gesso and then proceed to blocking in acrylics. I have more success when I work this way I think! :) This one is smallish, 12" x 24".

Any c&C always welcome.

cheers, Mike

This is going to be great! Looking forward to seeing it develop. Would you like me to add WIP to your title, so members can remember to check in to see how it is going?

Thanks Vivien! Sure, if you could retitle it with a WIP in it that would be great. I always forget to do this, but will definitely remember for the next one! Much appreciated, Mike.

Excellent water. I look forward to the finished piece.
Thanks Penny!

A bit more work on this. Decided to go full value block in with acrylics. Apologies for the horrible photo glare (didn't think acrylics did that!?). Now on to oil tomorrow.

Cheers

Thanks for the vote of confidence Chammi! Kind of tough slogging with this one, but I'm guided every time I take a photograph of it. One thing always amazes me is how much softer to keep the edges at the beginning! Water driving me crazy! lol

Beautiful. Love the water. That is difficult for me.

Thanks Ginny! Yes, I'm finding the water to be the most difficult part too actually. Didn't plan out the drawing as concretely as the bird at the start. I will learn for the next one though!! ;)
