Usually I'll start a plein air session with an acrylic, then follow with a quicker watercolor, and sometimes a pastel. I work quickly.

Here are some of those from real views. Let me know what you think. I do not pretend to be accomplished with pastels, BTW.

Plein air painting is a challenge and working quickly is a desirable skill! Your work looks plenty accomplished to me and it's a real pleasure to see the world as you saw it in those moments. The distant hills are beautifully described in the first one! I especially like the feeling of bright warm light in the last one. I hope there are more plein air sessions coming your way. :)

Agree with Donna. I wish I were able to work faster and enjoy scenes like these while I paint. The pathway in the last painting is most interesting. You are inviting us to walk over the hill and see what is in the distance.

Thanks!
The first one is about 9x4" on sanded buff UArt. Second one is on 9x12" Mi Teintes gray colored ground. Third one is on the rough (wrong for my intention) side of a 7x5" or so scrap of Mi Teintes colored ground.
