View Full Version : Update of an old portrait (x-post in portraiture)

When I finished this portrait, a year ago, I was very excited and I loved it. However, over the year, every time I looked at it, I saw more and more that was wrong with it. So, I finally tried to fix it up a little. I know it is not very good, but I certainly like it better than it was. :clear:

Wow Ginny! You should be really proud of the changes you made to this one! What a difference in the skin tones; the face is so much more life-like. I usually am glad I reworked something and think of those pieces as "What Have I Got to Lose" experiments.

Sorry to disagree with you, but...

It IS very good! And the changes you made are the major reason! Whatever you have learned in the past year has taken a nice, but fairly flat portrait and made it 3-dimensional, with much more realistic skin tones and the values of the face and beard are now synchronized nicely!

Fantastic improvement!

Aren't you happy you revisited this painting? The flesh tones are wonderful and there is more life to the portrait. I say well done!

Thank you, Donna, Don, and Karen. It is difficult for me to revisit old works, but, yes, I am glad I did. I think it is getting easier. LOL!
