I had no idea how I'd meet my own challenge SO I decided on a black canvas 16x20 and glued some torn up newspaper on it and went out for a while.
Painting time is about 1.5, wash up for me about a half hour
I used a putty knife to apply the 3 colors. White, black and deep yellow over top of the newspaper. Scraped some off and then dragged an old school hair pick over it. Added more black here and there, did the edges. Gave it about 20 minutes to dry and then I added the stencil words CIRA 2019 2019 BRICK BRICK.
Oh and my reference photo was the restaurant/bar in Salt Lake City, focusing on the brick wall and the flags hanging.

This is such a powerful pieces, so dark and moody and for some reason it makes me think of prison walls and dark dark days. Must be the vertical black lines and black surround.
On a lighter note I hope your days are filled with laughter and sunshine.:)
Welcome back

I felt so bad when Christine said it reminded her of a prison! So here are some pics of it hanging on the wall, not in jail!
