When the conversations are fading, the fire is burning low, the guests are starting to leave, the parents are looking for their overtired children to get them to bed and it gets quiet, then you know the celebration is ending.
And you may find your child, sitting with his new found friend by the fireside like this.

Soft pastels on PastelMat (30x40cm)
My first usage of the Terry Ludwig pastels I got at Christmas.

C&C always welcome

Oh, Esther, it is so beautiful. Love the lights, shadows, and mood. And, thanks for the accompanying little bit of prose. 😊

Wonderful story! The viewer can feel the warm glow from the fire and dimmed lighting. Nicely done! I think you'll be using the TL's more often.

You have outdone yourself with this one, Esther! The soft lighting and quiet mood tell the story so well. The bricks and their lighting are done to perfection! How did you like the new Ludwigs?

Beautifully done Esther. How much is from your imagination? Or is it part or all from photo?

Thank you for all your kind comments, Ginny, Karen, Donna, Kiffin and Kim.

Donna, I got the intense darks set and the different shades of dark colors are really beautiful. I only have to learn not to darken my fingers immediately when I touch one of them. They seem to be even smoother than the Schminke pastels. But I will definitely use them again :)

Kiffin, I took several photos as it was difficult to get the light correct and I did not want to get the boys aware of being photographed. In the end none of the photos was really usable as reference. Therefor it is a mixture of two not too bad photos and artistic license :)

Very warm and cozy composition. I like the contrast and the warm colors! The viewer follows the flame starting from the boy with the candle.
