Some month ago I read an article about working with horses in the woods and how mindful and cooperative this has to be done. And it is getting more common again here as it does not destroy the forest soil so much.
So I searched for photos and started this painting.
But real life stepped in and it took ages to get it ready.

Mostly Pastel pencils on PastelMat (30x40cm) with a watercolor underpainting.

C&C most welcome

This turned out so well, Esther, and you created quite the feeling of being there as the horses pass by! I like the light coming through the forest and the long shadows that add a sense of depth to the scene. The man on the log must have had a very good sense of balance!

(Thank you for your very kind comment on my little winter study. Like you, I am more than ready for some warmer weather!)

I agree with Donna. She just beat me to it~ I'd like to add that I like a painting that tells a story. This is so well done!

Thank you very much for your kind comments, Donna and Karen.
I am glad it works. It took a while till I knew how to get depth into the woods.
