View Full Version : Very old WDE 20 Oct 2017 Bunny Rabbit (MI)

I hope it's OK to post one this old. This Bunny is from 20 Oct 2017 WDE. I did a 2 hour version of him, and l oved him so much, I decided to do him again. I started this back in 2017, and he ended up unfinished in the WIP pile. I pulled him out a few weeks ago and started working on him a little bit at a time. Here he is, all finished. I'm quite pleased with the result. He is A3 pastel pencils and soft pastels on colourfix primed heavy duty cartridge paper. I plan on entering him in a local exhibition in May. I might even see if someone will buy him, though I have no idea what price I would put on him. All he needs now is a frame.
Here is my original 2 hour version:
And the reference, cos who's gonna remember it this long after? Is there a way I can find out whose photo it is so I can credit them if/when I exhibit it?

An amazing finish on this photorealistic rabbit! So glad you finished him. I don't recall the image or the WDE. You can search back thru the pages and probably find it. Best of luck showing it. I'd put a high price on him.

Breathtaking work, so beautiful! I'm really glad you decided to post it. We had a few other older ones posted this week, and I'm including them in the March 22 Gallery, with mentions about which previous WDEs they are from. I'll include this one, too.

How Gorgeous, I wish you all the best in your competition. It's good also coming into easter, he/she will be a crowd pleaser for sure.
Beautiful painting of the bunny. He is adorable. I looked back and I did this reference too (but not as well as you did).

Wow, the finish is amazing, so realistic. You did a great job with the fur and the eye. He looks positively petable.
So glad you posted this. It was from my WDE.

This Schedule thread, post#87 tells us it was Lisilk's week - but I couldn't find her Images thread, though it will be there if you search her threads and look for that date!:)
I'm glad you've posted this, the finish is tremendous Kerri .... (and now I've just seen LI's post above!!) ... I do hope he receives a good public when he's on show - and do ask a good price for him!:) Good luck!

Thanks for all the lovely comments. And thank you Lisilk for the lovely reference :D
I have entered him into the exhibition (with a great deal of trepidation) and priced him (with even greater trepidation) at $335. I arrived at the price by deciding how much I want for my work ($200), added the expenses of entering the exhibition and other costs, then adding the 25% the show will take as commission. I don't know if I've over priced him or not, but for better or for worse, it's done now.

Lovely. I am glad you continued with it.
