View Full Version : WDE Mar 22 - Apple Jar, after Cezanne

Haven't had any time for art the last two weeks...started a full time temporary job and then the weekends got filled up with busy stuff...so I was really happy to have some time today to paint.

Thank you Connie, for the Cezanne challenge...he is one of my favourites!

This is in oil, on 9 x 12 inches Canson art board. I stopped at an hour and a half because I knew I was going to start getting finicky with details and blending...and I'm sure M. Cezanne didn't do that. I realized after I had photographed it that I had forgotten to paint the little handle on the jar...oh well.

Nice job and definitely in the style of Cezanne.

I love how you have brightened up the scene. And I could easily guess this to be a Cezanne! Really nice work!

Very Cezanne and a lovely rich and warm colour palette.

Lovely rendering, and I can definitely see the Cezanne influence. Great work, and I think you were right to stop when you did. Cezanne was definitely not finnicky with his blending.

I really like the close colour harmonies here, very much as in the reference. It really pulls the composition together which was a major focus of Cezanne’s work. Great work.
