View Full Version : Fixing a loose brush

Is there any way to remove the ferrule from a brush handle? I have a filbert that has a loose ferrule and I'd like to glue it back on securely.
But as far as I know I don't think there is a way to remove the ferrule.
My only idea so far is to just take some cement and rub it around the end of the ferrule where it meets the wooden handle.

Do the cement thing, it's easiest. I am told that brush manufacturers often use epoxy glue, to hold the bristles in the ferrule (and presumably hold the ferrule on the handle). But other cements should also work, as long as they resist oil, OMS, and water.

Epoxy. If it's already loose just finish loosening it and remove it. Then epoxy it back on.

You cannot remove the ferrule even if it's loose. That was the purpose of my question. I've tried pulling it off with pliers and turning it round and round but those things are very difficult to pull off.
So I'm gonna just run some cement around it.
