Hi,

I research a lot of this technical. I used since one year the flemish technical, but need to much time for large panels, so I would like make the background and far with venitian method.
The first layer and underpainting is titan white with umbra burned and make the shadows with extra layer of umbra burned.
After this I used the pure colors with some layers.
The last I use glaze with pure linseed oil and little color to make a deep. Some layers.

The last two or glaze layers without resin and terpetine and pure linseed oil only to get better deep?

The first layer with titan white and umbra burned (with a very very little venetian red PR101) only?

Yes.

Rembrandt, and some other artists, finished with opaque highlights. Not every composition needs such highlights.
