British murder mysteries of the early 20th century are full of poisonings by arsenic or cyanide. It seems that such poisons were routinely used as pesticides (insects or rodents) at places with large country gardens, which is often the setting for such stories. Also see this article about Mithridatism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mithridatism).

So "P" we could use solvents in small amounts over a certain amount of time and be just......fine!

That's more or less the concept behind single malt Scotch. :)

rat poison is often mostly fluoride, the thing in toothpaste and drinking water. let's wonder about cancers.

You can replace with cosmetic color Manganese Violet PV16.

Rat poison at least for most of the world in the last century was synonymous with Coumadin. A blood thinner prescribed for clotting issues and valve transplant recipients.

hehehe! I pulled out my purples to see what I had to reduce chroma of some yellow ochres. I was going to use diox purple, then saw these two, and think the cobalt deep might work. In looking at Blick for the characteristics, I noted the toxicity.
Then I read this thread. I'll wear gloves. These are both old tubes, so I'm guessing the real thing.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have manganese blue. Which red would you suggest to turn it violet--I have a lot of reds. Should be transparent, right? From what I read of the blue, it's more for warm geographical areas, right? My landscape is high in northern mountains.
