John (astaman) of WetCanvas lives in Shetland just 150 yards from this scene
and has given me permission to use his photo as a reference. Thank you, John. The image is 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" on bristol with .25 and .45 Pigma pens.
I appreciate all comments.

Beautiful sketch Bill, great textures on the stonework and cobblestones.

Very nice, Bill. Great control of those pens to make the stonework so real.

It's as if I was there Bill. Seriously though it's an excellent drawing. As Doug said, the texture is masterful. If you don't mind one more thought, I think you could push the tonal contrast bit harder but it's a very fine little drawing. I'll post more pictures in Wash when I dig them out.

That's a beauty, Bill! I agree about upping the contrast a bit, if you don't mind me saying so. Anyway, very well done!

Yes, maybe a little more contrast in some areas but really, this is a super drawing Bill and does justice to this lovely place .... if you get the chance to see the programme where it's used, worth watching!

John - we could use some of your photos of this in the RIL if you'd like to share them!:)

Thank you all for your kind remarks. You are right about the contrast as seen here. The actual drawing is better.

Maureen, thanks! I have been watching the programme "Shetland," and like it very much. But if I didn't use closed caption I'd miss half of it.:)

Les, thanks for looking at the drawing. I look up to you as good judge and teacher.
