WOW! you guys REALLY did some great work here!

I have a couple of *guesses*, but I'm not about to list them.

There's only one that I might be sure of...and I can't wait to see if I'm right on that one. I will tell you if I am right, it's because I recognize the CAMERA *not* the style. :D

Y'all have gotten me FACINATED with the idea of setting up water shots, just to see if I could *do* one.

11-14-2003, 05:18 AM
A wee science experiment

In the past I have only got 1 or 2 right. I think once I got 3. So this time I got my daughter to call out numbers in random order. She had no idea what I was doing this for and she had not seen the photos. I then put the numbers next to the names. Some of them I'm sure are wrong but I want to leave it totally random. It also means nobody should be concerned about my guesses because they are not guesses :D So are my guesses no better than chance. We will soon know :D

1. C. Drapier
2. B. Crias
3. F. Kaleidoscope Eyes
4. I. Moore Hill Graphics

The more you look at the photos the more you want to change things around. So I am stopping with this list as it is now. If I look any more I will be second and third and fourth guessing. :crying:

11-14-2003, 09:43 AM
I wanted to do this because I thought it would be a snap to recognize other's work...but there are some tricky people here, lol.
7 really has me stumped...and I was glad to see Veronica post because I thought she would recognize Carol's pics. (since they go on walks and take pictures together)..but alas, we disagree, LOL.

Alan, thanks for finding that one. When I first started I saw this and couldn't believe it, I saved the picture because it was an inspiration to me... and since I hadn't yet associated names and personalities, etc...I didn't realize until today that this Work of Art was Julie's...

I hope I am not breaking with protocol by reposting someone elses work....but this is a treasure and the subject IS Water. Julie, sure hope it is okay:D :D :D

11-14-2003, 11:23 AM
Thanks, Kathy.... I love that shot too......

TeAnne..... #3 is my favorite of the bunch too... I could stare at that one all day..... whoever took it, you're my hero!

11-14-2003, 12:33 PM

I have to say this is an out standing group of photographs. I didn't enter this project because I knew it was beyond my capabilities. But you all rose to the occasion. Good work everyone.

Thanks again for playing...it was fun!!

11-16-2003, 09:27 AM
Well my randon selection got "none" right. Guess that proves an educated guess is at least a little better than random selection.

11-16-2003, 09:34 AM
Kathryn-I absolutely love your pic! Totally unexpected & wonderful!
Vee-Love the color!
Alan-That's a great catch! One of your assistants helping you out there?
Margie-Was this from your Kansas trip or is that in Minneapolis? Lovely shot!
Geck-I almost got yours but I thought the movement in the water up close was from Vee's ferry! Dam!
Crias-Love that shot! Good fall calender one!
Ninja-Very peaceful place-lovely!
Mike-Is that your faucet? Cool!
Carol-I like the light refections in this shot!
Mackey-I can just hear the splish-splash! Nice one!

So I guess it's my week for ZIP, ZERO, NADA! WHODATHUNKIT? ROTFLMAO!

11-16-2003, 09:58 AM
I only got one right...and it was #3. I was positive I had Macky's down (I thought it was #7) because I *thought* I recognized the Sony Camera with a small area of focus in tight on a macro. BOY was I wrong!

You ALL did a super job...thanks for letting me play along with you.

Congratulations Veronica and Margie! 4 correct! You're doing GREAT on picking the RIGHT ones!! :)

11-16-2003, 10:50 AM
Congrats Margie and Veronica!

#1 K.... Nonamac X
Sunny, I knew you or Nona took #1.... I put your name to her photo, and her name to yours! lol.... Beautiful rush you captured!

#2 G.... Kathryn8 X
Red Herring! Yes, that's mine... Not my typical IR, because the sky is so light, but that is the beach where I shoot the most.

#3 F.... Kaleidoscope Eyes X
Kathy, I admit, I get yours and Carol's photographic styles confused, they're both so good! I'll pay closer attention to your posts in the future! This is just beautiful... well done.

#4 I.... Moore Hill GraphicsX
I was fooled into thinking this was V's because I saw the effie action in there... good job, Cathy... this looks great with that effect!

#5 A.... BobbyD X
Very tranquil, NinjaL, sorry I missed. So Rob was the herring? I thought this looked like a stop along one of his walks.... beautiful falls...

#6 C.... Drapier !!!
Mike, there is no hiding form me!

#7 B.... Crias X
Carol, this is stunning! It reminded me of Cathy's work, but it is your palette, and I should have recognized it!

#8 E.... Haggis63 !!!
Alan, I know it was yours because of the sharp subject and high contrast... I also recognized the faded edges that James used in one of his photos the other day... and I think I've seen that glass in a previous post. Excellent capture!

#9 J.... Ninja Librarian X
Vee! That's the one photo I thought you didn't take because of the ice...lol... duh! What was I thinking? Excellent colors and textures.

#10 L.... SunnyJon X
See #1....lol.... Nona, another wonderful close-up. The light makes the water look frozen.

#11 H.... MimaL !!!
This was easy..... hooked on sepia? Must be Margie! I love the droplets.... :D

11-16-2003, 10:53 AM
I had a lot of fun and there were some wonderful photographs here.
I only got 3 right, including my own.

Got 8 (Glass/Water/Splash) right. I knew Alan had been doing water experiments and noticed he had been putting a border on his work lately, lol.:D :D :D

Got 11(Sepia Fountain) right....noticed Margie had taken a sepia photo of Union Station...the Sepia's matched!

I was really fooled by 4 (autum leaves in water)..know how Carol loves water and leaves.
Thought 9 (Frozen Water) was Sunnys, because I knew that where she lived they had some really cold weather lately, and I figured she wouldn't do a Macro Abstract....oh well.

Well I'll be darned

#1 - I thought this might be you, Sunny, because it was so sculptural - but What is it???
#2 - I kept associating this one with Alan because it's so like one of the first images of his I ever saw, and loved. It's so beautiful, geck - I LOVE IT!
#3 - this is really outstanding Kathy - I knew it had to be you! How did you do it???
#4 - a lovely shot Cathy, and effie suits it - I hadn't seen you use effie before..........
#5 - beautiful shot, ninja! The countryside looked so English, somehow - where is it?
#6 - absolutely gorgeous, Mike - is it tap water? Fabulous texture!
#7 - another of your brilliant and beautiful macros, Carol!!!
#8 - superb shot, Alan - wonderfully clear - did you use the multiple shot function? It's so perfect !
#9 - yes, well, all that saturated colour, you know......
#10 - Macky, that is such a lovely macro - I love the criss-crossing lines of the water, and the delicate colours!
#11 - Margie - you do have a very architectural eye - this is a beautiful "structure" of water!

Well 2 out of 11 ~ duh! Didn't even get V's...effie fooled me too! Shoulda got Margies, I loved Union Station. I was sure #2 was Scotland, and thought Geck was trying to confuse us with that crystal clear glass of water...I could go on but...
Anyhow I agree that they are a great set of shots, well done everybody
Kathy, were those drops on a sheet of glass????How did you do this?????It's wonderful and I want to try it. :D

11-16-2003, 02:30 PM
Vee-It's a very rocky falls area I go to(my fave place I s'pose) that boulders are strewn everywhere & this is a place that you have to look down into to see.

Thanks Geck!

Alan-I don't know I tried & got none! HAHA!

11-16-2003, 02:51 PM
Carol, you are right they were drops of water on glass (from a picture frame). I tried different things to get it to bead up and finally settled on plastic wrap (Saran Wrap) stretched over the glass..set it on top of an old serving bowl and used a dropper to get the beads of water. It was rainy and clowdy here for days so I never had the lighting conditions that I wanted... Would be best outside with good light. It wasn't totally my idea..had seen something similar on a photography site a while back. Here are some more pics to give you an idea

4. One of those gift bags

Me, too. I thought this was one of Alan's grand Scottish landscapes! Fooled me!

The English Countryside. ;) It's the garden at Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Stratford-upon-Avon. I figured BobbyD was the red herring because almost EVERYONE put him down with my photo. Other than guessing the correct red herring, I only matched 2 photos to their rightful owners. With everyone playing the water drop game that Kathy started, I was completely confused as to who went where.

Kathy  THANK YOU ~ this is going to be fun :D I really like #3 here, they definitely look airborne. I was very flattered to have been picked for taking your shot.

11-16-2003, 07:41 PM
Kathryn-I love that last one you just posted -cool bowl! I still like the first one best but that last one is soo 1960s! :D

11-16-2003, 07:46 PM
I used a slow shutter spped on my shot and fired the Slowsynch flash for the effect I was reall happy with it.
I did badly guessing but love the set of images here

11-17-2003, 01:26 AM
LOL!! does this mean we DON'T have shooting styles??? or that I'm just too unobservant to notice them???

Geck, I KNEW #2 was yours....but I couldn't find anything else to put with Alan :( Least I got Crias right :)
