View Full Version : Duck Stamp Contest Information

Hi Everyone,

This is my first posting so please let me know if I am doing something incorrectly.
I am a self taught Acrylic Artist.
I am interested in painting for the Federal and/or State Duck Stamp Contest.
I am a bit confused about the size of the painting surface.
In the Federal the requirement size is 7"x10" on a 1/8" Masonite with the Mat being 9"x12". Not to be any thicker than 1/4" total.
Later in the PDF file is says : Also, for purposes of stability of the entry,
please use a 9" x 12" art board with a 9" x 12"
mat, rather than a 7"x 10" art board covered
by a 9" x 12" mat.
Does that mean to use a 9"X12" masonite but paint the image 7"x10"?
I am unfamiliar with matting. IF it is a 7"x10" masonite how does one attach the mat on the board?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

What Iíve seen from some people is they take a 9x12 panel and tape it off one inch on each side giving them a 7x10. That way they have room for the matte and still meet all the size requirements
