Hi I wanted to see if I could adapt a wet in wet technique to acrylics. Mine is nowhere near as good but the inspiration came from this youtube video by Kevin Hill:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3WUCAf2vv8

This took about an hour and is 12x16 i left off the trees and clouds. I underpainted black with a flat brush and used a palette knife over top. I couldnt get a good photo. It does look better IRL. The sky irl is whiter and there are more blues in the shadows. I couldnt get the paint to leave the knife in broken textures pieces quite like he does in the video. I tried using gesso and tube white. I was going over a dry underpainting. In the video it's wet in wet oil.

Great texture in those rocks, especially the central ones. Nice.

I watched the video, it was interesting. I like what you have done, they are very realistic mountains.

great texture. For more broken texture get a small bag of marble dust or unscented talc and add a tiny bit to the overlay. But don't overdo it.

Great tip! I will try this. Do you sprinkle it on the dark underpainting while it's drying or after it is dry and then go over it with the snow color loaded knife? or do you mix it into the top (snow) layer before applying? I guess technically I can sand or scratch off some of the snow layer to expose the rock layer beneath as well.

Thanks again! Off to the corner marble dust store. :)

This has a really good structural feel to it, solid rock!
