Great colors!

I really like this saying.

A painting is never really done as long as I can get my hands on it.

Degas was famous for that.
The wealthy patrons that bought his pastels would have to have servants assigned to follow him at parties and make sure he wouldn't try to fix their artworks by him.
They already loved them just the way they were.

This gorgeous, Cliff. So spare it is almost abstract. It just hovers on the edge.

In that sense of pushing the scenic toward abstraction it makes me think of the great(est) English painter Turner.

(Resist any suggestion of sailboats. :D)

Steve,
Gayle,
Blue,
Dianna,
Maureen,
Michelle,
Colin,

Thank you all very much.

Good thought, Blue. I'll be looking for some kind of juried event.

Yes, Colin, I am pushing in the direction of abstraction. The subject matter is just the excuse - it provides a structure for the painting so I don't have to think of everything.

Maybe the sailboats are there if you turn the painting the right way. I have read that Kandinsky failed to recognize one of his colorful landscapes because it had been hung sideways as an abstract. He reportedly thought it was a pretty good abstract.

I'm not into abstracts and I don't know how you did it, but this is beautiful.
