View Full Version : Don't Text While Dancing

Sometimes I start a painting with random mark making and occasionally an entire figure will appear out of the marks and beg to be set free from its background. That's what this is - this dancer was just there in its entirety except for the cell phone, I added that. All I did was a tiny bit of outline and painted the background.
Comments and critiques are always welcomed...but don't take this one too seriously. Ha.

this made me smile. I had a (German) rap song in my head, saying that "It does not mean as much to me if there's nobody there to share my emotions, who is marveling something that you point your finger to". These selfies for all the stuff we do are a bane of our existance.

Technically, very sound piece.

The title grabbed me then the man in a loincloth or fancy jockeys did. Really a fun and lighthearted piece.

Really great visual textures and I like the negative spaces as much as the figure. Well done!

Thanks, Daniel...You comments make me think a better name for this might be "Selfie-Indulgence"

Thanks Kay - Are you able to change the title of this for me? So you like the loin-cloth, huh? :)

Thanks Rick, until you made me look, I hadn't noticed that the negative space loosely creates a ring around the figure....serendipitous fun!

I'm a big fan of loin cloths. Title is now changed for you.

I like that its modern and sort of primitive at the same time (primitive in gesture and subject) It's cave painting meets stained glass. :)

Made me smile! Brilliant how you developed from the existing shapes and made it into something else. This will be a conversation piece for sure

Thank you Chris, Chaya, Anthony and Susan, your comments are a good summation for this piece: It's a 'primitive, modern, weird, cool, fun conversation piece'.
