The light parts are the misty fog breaking up through which you see a zig zag road climbing up to the distant farm house/chateau as it passes by nearer smaller buildings, all as seen from across a valley between two ridges.
The sky just sets all the rest off in a wonderful way..
Do I like it?

just enough to be a landscape
just enough mystery to be an abstract

Most excellent, Katie, as each of your landscapes are. That's a nice size to show the expanse of green fields, and your sky is magnificent!

Never been there, but I imagine this is like an English country side...landscape with so many interesting details that makes your mind want to identify them..lovely!

I've been back to look at this 3 tme, maybe more. I just realized I haven't commented on it - thought I had. 3 views lets you know I really like the piece. great textures and your sweeping gestures create the illusion of great space...and that wonderful sky...It's reminds me of a walk on an early spring day where I grew up.

I hear the scratching of the palette-knife just by looking at it. From the topic, not entirely my cup o' tea, but very well executed.

This is wonderful work Katie. Beautiful texture. We really get a sense of the change in elevation between the foreground and the ridge. I like how the viewers perspective seems to be from another ridge with a valley in between.

Almost too much sky for me. Luscious expressive colors and shapes in the landscape to enjoy.

I meant to say...carly thanks for the feedback..i think your correct. I will have to watch for that in future.
This is cool Katie. I would be tempted to work on recession a little more but then it might get too real. That's always the question with abstract landscapes.....where is that happy medium.

Getting the right balance between abstract and realism is tricky.
