These are wonderful references Tuscanny! Just need the time to paint but one in particular I find irresistible so must make an effort. Thank you.:)

Lovely! Clever idea to "mash up" the two photos, as Tali mentions. :)

Well done Christel!. Perfect combination of the two pics, and actually works really well. The color of the elk is similar to sky color. Helps balance it out.

That is such a good idea and so well painted. It gives the atmosphere of the quietness of snow and the twilight darkness too.:)

Another reference, if I may. From Basel, Switzerland.
I traveled there for a few days last month. This way I can motivate myself to draw it..

Nicely done Christel! Wonderful detail work on the branches and I like how the water looks frozen over, just like in the photo.

I especially like the Frozen Stream painting by Christel - inspiring and nostalgic.

The warm glow in the forest snowfall reference photo caught my eye and inspired this effort.

18 x 12 in Portfolio water soluble OPs (WSOP?) on gessoed paper.

I think these photos are great to ease the effort of composition and allow concentration on learning how to use the medium.

Trier

Beautiful work, Christel - your tree branches are excellent!

Trier, I'm becoming a big fan of your style. I like your bold colors and expressive outlines - very cool!

Here's my take on the little frozen river scene. 12x12 inches on cork tile. Senns/mungyos...Kept it loose, impressionistic. Cork is fun to paint on. Thanks for the photos Christel!

Thanks Rich, Trier and Terri! I guess I have to follow the photo as I last saw so much snow in 1970 in Germany:cat:
Trier - love your interpretation of the snow scene:thumbsup:
Rich - super impressionistic frozen river. Cool colors! Cork?

That's awesome, Rich! No snow down here in the SE USA, but the temperatures have gone way down, so it's cold but sunny. Beautiful day!

I know you're completely used to it and it's natural in your part of the world, Christel. But it still seems like y'all have it backwards down there! ;)

Hope you stay cool in the heat and humidity!

I went to help hubby feed the sheep. This little one came running behind the vehicle and fell down exhausted. I brought it back to its mommy:)

A quickie here! Christmas took over! Love the works here and the little lamb. I'm glad he was returned to his Mum.
This is on light sugar paper and measures 30cm x 21cm.
Thank you for the delightful references.

Very nice work,Margaretta! I like your light touch. There are so many styles/approaches to look at in the challenge this time; so glad you added yours before the month got away!

I love all the pictures and everyone who has commented and shown their fine interpretations. I hope to join in soon. I am using mainly oil sticks because I like the fact that they dry well and feels like working with oil paint but feels good to use fingers and occasionally a brush. Maela 49

That turned out so soft and pretty, Margaretta! Very happy to see more work posted before the month gets away - December always go by in a flash.

Christel, I missed that photo of you and the little lamb until today - so sweet! I would love to cuddle one of them while still so small. :)

Maela 49 - I hope to see some of your work soon!
