Good work though a little difficult to understand in places. The left side has more clarity.

Some times it is like that. Some things stand out with more clarity than others. I would rather look at the swirling paint of a Soutine, with all its messy lack of definition, than the clarity of a landscape photo.

And I'm the opposite. I try to open my mind to the abstract but the detail freak in me wants to see more.

Great!! I understand what Michelle is saying. I tend to be a detail freak also. I have tried for years just to loosen up my painting. I could never paint an abstract but I truely donappreciate them when well done.

Detail can work and be pleasing but I think that sometimes very fine passages get lost as more details are defined. This is sometimes painfully clear when WIPs are posted and really fine work is ruined by folks who don't know when to stop.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I have to force myself to walk away and leave it for a while. Otherwise I'm off into detail land. But sometimes I do the detail because I like that look.
