About 60 years ago I Read first 'The Cruel Sea' then ' Three Corvettes '. I was hooked. Nicholas Monsaratt was one of the greats at that time. So when I was asked if they could use my paintings for the translation. Well I suppose it would be like asking some one on here to illustrate 'Reach for The Sky'. I know some of the people connected with the book and the various organisations to do with veterans and 'The Great Patriotic war'. During the Dervish 75 visit the foundations for continued contact and visits between the participants of the Arctic Convoys were formed, including, twining HMS Belfast and The IceBreaker Krasin (both participants in The Arctic Convoys.) There may be political differences between our countries, but it is felt that only good can come from the continuing friendship of like minded people and keeping memories, both good and bad alive especially among today's young people.
Sorry for the plug, but I do think it's worth it.
