I've tried some of the more expensive brushes, and I'm liking the W&N Series 7. It's firm, keeps a great point, and holds plenty of paint. Furthermore, it seems very well-made and reliable.
I've also tried the Raphael 8404, also high-end, found it softer but also quite good.

Hi.. I think I have a few brushes from almost every brand ( lol ) .. but I do like thw WN and also the Kolinsky. I have a full set of the "dream catchers" from cheapjoe, and like them a lot too. Stick with what you are comfortable using .. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif Carol

I've been told that Escoda brushes perform just like Winsor & Newton series 7. They are made of pure kolinsky sable too. I have several of them and I'm completely satisfied. I also have Raphael 8404s, but like the kolinskys better.
I haven't tries series 7, but a lot of other artists from another watercolor list that I'm on swear that it's just as good, sometimes even better...and at only a fraction of the cost (gotta love it!).
