I see that Stillman and Birn are coming out with a new series of tinted paper journals.
Has anyone here had the privilege of trying out the paper? I think sometimes they let artists try things out before they become public.
I have the Strathmore gray toned paper but find the paper too smooth and thin for the way I work. I'm wondering how the S&B compares.

I've not heard about that tinted version, but do have and love S&B Zeta series.

I'd love to try them out - not impressed at all with the quality of Strathmore but like the coloured papers so I'm certain the S&B ones will be great

I bought a Strathmore to try, but the paper is just too thin.

Just saw the new S&B Novas in the Blick catalog, and will be ordering a beige book.

Interesting that Strathmore too has just come out with 400 Series Toned Mixed Media pads (in both Tan and Gray tones, but heavier paper (300 gsm) than their tan and gray toned sketch pads). I'll be getting the tan mixed media to try out too.

I did get one of the Strathmore 400 Series toned pads in gray, and it was okay, nothing spectacular.

Agreed.

Dry media only for those :(

I did see the Stillman and Birn Nova Series when I was at the Urban Sketching Symposium in Chicago back in July. They had some samples at their table. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

They're out there now. I just ordered a 6x8 beige.
