View Full Version : WDE July 9, happy cat and old car

Thanks for hosting, Sandra, and the great photos! I'm quite drawn to that frog and the cellist, but I chose You (she was hard to resist) and the old car for some more practice with gouache.

The happy cat is gouache, 5.5" x 8.5", and took maybe 45 minutes (I kept adding layers. Not sure you're supposed to do that with gouache).

The old car is also gouache, 7" x 7", and took about 30 minutes.

I used limited palettes for both, but different limited palettes (I think only gamboge and azo yellow made it into both of them).

Thanks for looking!

Holly, love both of these done with your magical wand brush, each with its own charm and charisma. Love the limited palette you chose. (I can't believe the kitty is called You, as in Hey, You!)

Wonderful work on both of these. Love your style with the gouache. It's very impressionistic which I am always drawn to.

They are both wonderful, I am unsure about the rules on layers with gouache but my philisophy is if it works for you then do it. These definitely work.
