Hi Everyone!

Here's another Pastel Self Portrait that started out as a demo then emerged into a completed piece. It's 16"x20" on Stratmore Toned Paper. Somehow I can't download reference photo but my Artist friends say I got my likeness, HA!
I love to practice portraiture by taking photos of me in all kinds of scarves and hats. The head coverings really create some interesting moods and shadows.
This photo came out a bit too orange because I took it at night, haven't had a chance to reshoot in the daylight.

On a final note, I was just notified that it won an award in a local open juried show! Hopefully, this painting has more good things to come!
Hope you like it

C&C's always welcomed

wonderful... it is orange but it works well because of all the other colors. Very cohesive and vibrant. :)

Marlene, This painting is very interesting the -the hood, the eyes looking away into the distance above, red and orange glow in the face the blue shawl that covers the shoulders give it a mysterious religious piety. A really interesting painting.

This is such a nice portrait, Marlene, and I love the element of mystery the hood provides. Congrats on the award!
