7x5 beginning stage with ink sketch on old book page using Pigma Micron 01 pen. Time: roughly 15 minutes if that long. I'll add watercolor next ;) so stay tuned folks :rolleyes:

Great start, interesting working surface!
Looking good so far. At least you don't need to worry about the background!

Thanks Wendy and Anne. Well, that is true about the bg but I chose to attack it anyway in my never-ending quest for more detail :eek: Here is the finished product using watercolor. About 1 more hour was spent.

That's terrific, Kay! Beautiful colors and design, and I love how the words on the page sort of weave around the grosbeak. He seems to know he's more spectacular than whatever is happening between Gram and June.

Holly and Imelda, many thanks! Yes, Imelda, I learned you could while enrolled in Sketchbook Skool. One urban sketcher instructor in France who goes by the name of Lapin, works on accounting ledger paper all the time.
