Hi Guys,
here's one of the very few WW2 subjects I've done in the past few years. I did this as a tribute to my favourite Frank Wootton painting (below) 'Defiants en route to Dunkirk, May 1940'.

A really nice style of painting which I like; I'd rather have this on my wall than the Wootton one. It must've been a headache composing this and placing those aircraft to best effect.

I normally use models to set up my compositions. I'm planning a painting showing 'Defiant' night-fighters taking off, so will be using this 1:72 scale MPM model I built some years ago, along with reference photographs like this one I took at the Hendon Museum.

Thanks Kassal,
I visited the RAF museum at Hendon back in 2003, I remember seeing the black Defiant on display in Battle of Britain Hall.
That sounds a great idea for a painting, I look forward to seeing it! Cheers, Pete.
