I recently did a big clean up and decided I had to use up all my cheap old paints. Big mistake. Its such hard work and they will not do what you want.
This is the result after about an hour.
I am getting rid of them and sticking to the good stuff from now on.

It is cheap acrylic on canvas and took about an hour

Christine, amazing portrait of my friend! You capture him perfectly ... and I love the colors you used! You used your old cheap paints? But it is so good! If you do better with your new paints , you are a very good painter.

Wonderful colors in his skin and the background. The paint might have been hard to work with, but I like the results. This still has your expressive style.

Great colours. Agree that life is too short to be fighting with inferior materials.

Cheap paint or not, this looks very good! (But I totally relate to the frustration of fighting with your paint.)

It may have been cheap paint but the results are 1st class. Great painting. You do such a good job of using your colors for results like this.

Christine, your painting looks excellent, especially the colours!

Wow!!! Maybe poor paints have been hard to work with, but it certainly doesn't show - love to see what you would do with better paints, Christine, as this is super!

Christine, I've had to discard cheap supplies too. For me, it was cheap paper which just doesn't work with watercolor. You did a good job on this in spite of the inferior supplies.

Again , an amazing use of color. You make magic happen with any art supplies
