View Full Version : 'Airborne Cigar' Lancaster

101 Squadron flew these aircraft (distinguishable by their large fuselage aerials) in order to jam the enemy's night-fighter radar signals. They each carried a full bomb-load and participated in the raid, after which they had to continue to loiter while sending out their jamming signals and dropping chaff. Because of this it was reckoned these were the most dangerous missions of all flown by Bomber Command crews.

You turn these out at a pretty good clip, and they look good too. Nice combo!
