Pastel pencils on beige charcoal paper - 10" x 16" (1978)

A sketch made for my father for his 75th birthday based on several photos over his life to that time (he lived to 90). He was managing his brother's cattle ranch in Colorado when I was born; he was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life; an amateur taxidermist in younger days; and incredible gardener in later years. Not my best effort but thought about doing it only a few days before his birthday.

This is a beautiful and very special gift. I'm sure he loved it... looks like he was a great person. :)

This is so nice! What a wonderful way to remember your father and all the things that were so meaningful to him.

That's a really neat idea!
You may want to work it further and revisit the composition.
If you can, make a photo copy of this work, then cut out the pieces (subjects) move them around and try various combinations, then do the piece again.
Remember you can change the sizes too.
It should be fun to play with and you will get to spend more time thinking about those memories :)

Ye Dad and I shared a common passion for the outdoor world. A wonderful gift and a grand remembrance o' ye Dad. Good on ye.
