Hi! I haven't posted here in a long time because I've been experimenting with gouache and watercolor for awhile. I dusted off my pastels this week to make a painting of my granddaughter. I started with watercolor, then finished it in semi-hard pastel sticks and pastel pencils. C&C welcome!

Oh my, Michael! I know I tend to gush over almost everything you paint (deservedly so), but your skill and sensitivity with every medium you touch just boggles my mind. Simply outstanding.

What a beautiful portrait of a beautiful girl! You seem to have depicted a very honest expression; not a stiff or posed look.

A beautiful portrait. Delicate colouring, with soft touches to turnn out a beautiful skin tone. It is pleasant to eye, satisfies the enjoyment of a well done pastel portrait.

Really so much grace in this painting, I love your stile so much! So delicate, and a very fine contrast between warm and cool colours, that's a master's touch :)

The softness in the use of tonalities, as well as the expression of the face, make clear his tender feelings for his granddaughter. An adorable picture!

Your daughter is never going to let this out of her sight, Michael. I compared your original background to the latest version to see how you changed it and I like the result. You do such nice work!
