Criticism alway welcome, I want to learn more. Pastel Premier sanded paper 9x12 but the actual drawing is closer to 5x7. I am struggling with the tail feathers and I am thinking I should go for less detail not more.

The painting is good as it is. It has the essentials to make it an attractive paiting.

I like your use of colour and agree a little softening along his shoulder/back and feathers would help create the illusion of 3 dimensions.

So cute - I really like the expressive little face!

I really like it.
Crit would be that it looks a bit "outlined" in this pic, maybe spread the light blue out a bit around the bird? Also the shoulders are quite dark, I don't get a good sense of where the light is coming from. If you're working from a reference pic, try putting it thru a photo filter to increase contrast and maybe lighten some areas?

Very nice! He sure has that authentic bluebird coloring. I think you're right about the details: less is more. A photo captures all kinds of details but we don't have to see each one in order to appreciate his beautiful little form.
