View Full Version : My New Plein Air Painting Pet!

Yesterday after work I went up to the reservoir in Central Park to paint some clouds. The clouds would not stay still... in fact they moved as much as possible, going from all grey overcast to clear. Very uncooperative.

Setup pics:

Four people stopped to tell me there was a raccoon sitting at my feet... on the running track. I didn't notice because I was too focused on my painting! When they stopped he got scared away, but he kept coming back. So now I have a new pet raccoon who lives in Central Park. :)

Only pic I could get of my new pet  :

Here is a pretty sky pic from when I was leaving the park:

Nice plein air and a very cute pet! I like how you caught the drama of the clouds. How funny that you didn't even notice him but when you're painting the world really falls away. It would be so cool if you see him again someday - maybe he will pose for you.

It looks like it was a cold (by my standards    ) day and yes, those clouds are moving! Funny, a racoon in Central Park.

Thanks Donna and Karen! :D

Karen- probably cold by your standards yes... but I am a HEAT WIMP so it was just fine for me. ;)

We have lots and lots of raccoons in NYC, sometimes they are a real problem.
But my pet is never a problem, I know he is a very good raccoon.

Great dramatic sky in pastel as well as your photo.
Who knew you could get chummy with wild life in Central Park..another surprise plus of working plein air:thumbsup:

Pesky clouds! They're not like that here in the Midwest...

Keep getting out there- but watch those raccoons.

That is beautiful! I admire those who can work plein air! I wonder if raccoon manners are like cat manners, where you were being really polite by not staring at him so he decided you were friendly to hang out with. :)
