We still need Hosts to Host our "Feathers, fur & scales Challenges" for the months of September and December.

Hosting our Monthly Challenges is a very rewarding experience, and its fun to see what members make of your ref photos. Lots of members who have Hosted, often Host again.

If you think you would like to Host either September or December - you could post your name here OR Private Message me if you would like more info on Hosting.

If it looks like a duck and it walks like a duck and it a quacks like a duck, it just might be a Duck. Nujabi 100%cotton rag handmad paper in this Nujabi 81/2 x11 inch sketchbook. The duck was drawn with Staedtler water soluble crayons and painted with Mungyo watercolor paint. The Staedtler crayons are heavily pigmented and dissolve well with the application of a wet paintbrush to any area they are applied to. Mungyo Watercolor paints in pans are made in Korea and are likewise heavily pigmented and while some colors may not be lightfast they are just fine for work that won't be hanging on walls in direct sunlight. I won't use them for artwork that I will sell, however they are just fine for adding color to sketches in my sketchbooks.

Leslie, very nice sketches & wc of the donkey. Nice shading on the donkey's face.

Fana, nice little pencil sketch, I especially like the way you handled the mane & neck shading.

Karebear- nice paintings! The horses coloring looks so nice against the green grass.

Viv, congratulations on successfully completing your first camel, lol! He's awesome!

Chammi, love your wc & ink seahorse, and had a good laugh over the caption!

Deborah, it looks like you had a lot of fun with that duck! thanks for sharing the info, too.

Hydie, very sweet colorful cat portrait - I love using Derwent's WC pencil, too!

Lily - beautiful drawing! The fur is wonderful!

Plum21 - nicely rendered rooster, glad you gave him a try!

We've been moving this month & its been so hectic - haven't had time to do anything that wasn't related to projects....but I have really enjoyed seeing everyone's work!

So, sadly it seems the challenge is coming to an end (too soon if you are enjoying it ;) )... I've personally enjoyed every single piece of art that was expressed here! Thank you all for participating (directly by painting/drawing...etc... and indirectly by looking and enjoying other people's efforts) in the depiction of the real owners of what we call our planet.
Looking forward for new challenges and great works to come :)

I hope you had fun!! if you didn't, then you infringe the rules of the challenge and therefore you are disqualified :D

Wow! I've really enjoyed looking through the thread and seeing all the wonderful creations! Unfortunately I was too busy to take part, I moved house and had no time for anything else except for packing and moving boxes! I was hoping to do a picture of the cockerel, but I didn't even manage a quick attempt. Apologies to the host. I'm not doing very well this year!

Fedetony - I love both your paintings, the jellyfish has a lovely glow and transparency to it and the cockerel is very realistic, great rich colours.

Penny - three lovely watercolours, I like the second one best although I like the freshness of them all. I like your camel drawing too, the fur looks really thick.

Designingrose - I love your cat! Great work on the details. It has quite an impact, I am imagining this on a really huge canvas.

Christel - lovely work on this scene, I like the calm night-time feel this has, even though the busy city isn't far away.

Lesley - I like the liveliness of your horses and the donkey is great.

Kay - great donkey, I really like the blue / purple tints.

Shirley - lovely rooster, I feel as though he is looking out of the picture at me! I really like what you have done with the toucan ref, all the diagonals really keep the eye moving around the picture.

E.P. - fun drawings, I like how you've kept the colours the same. I like the seahorse.

Fana - good graphite work on the donkey, I like how you have shown the direction of the fur.

Karebear - great kitty, the fur looks so soft. I love the colours in the horse painting, they connect the subject with the background really well.

Viv - I like the use of the ink on your camel. lovely soft colours too.

Chammi - great seahorse! I love the colours and the lively ink lines. The caption is fun too!

Deborah - I love the rich colours and textures to your picture.

Hydie - nice fresh watercolour. I too like the expression.

Lily - beautiful graphite cat, I love how you rendered the fur.

Wendy - lovely cockerel, he looks as though he is smiling to himself. I really like the delicate colours.

I hope I didn't miss anyone! :)
