Had this posted in landscapes, but obviously it fits better here. The landscapes posts go back to the drawing on canvas and source image, so if you're intrepid enough you can see the full progression. About 75% complete, 48" x 30", oil on canvas. 42nd Street, NYC. Source image from 2002, posted for public use right here on WetCanvas!

Very nicely rendered. I particularly like the lighted sidewalk canopy with dark figures and the reflections on the sidewalk. I quite enjoy paintings of large city scenes yet I am usually very ill at ease being in one ( A large city not a painting of one). At this point in my life I would probably never choose to even visit one again, though I have visited many and did live for quite a while in Dallas and Montreal in the 70s.

Wonderful! You did a great job on the perspective and the lighting and color is terrific. It was fascinating to watch the progression through the WIP images as you tightened up the scene. Well done!

Wow, there's so much going on here! Excellent job on everything from the people to the lights and buildings. Cool job tying it all together, too.

Thanks so much everyone! I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for the marvelous artists' resource that is Wet Canvas, especially the FANTASTIC image library and the many fine photographers from around the world who have made their work available to us! I am no photographer, so this is truly a godsend.
