Here is my painting for the Ritual project ...I used one layer of wet in wet for the entire painting, then sharpened the focus just a bit with colored pencils ...usually I would use cellophane over this type of wet in wet working to acheive the marbled look of so much of my work, but I thought this one would do better without ...
tell me what you think ...

jnet,

Nicely done! You must work very quickly in order to complete this in one wet-in-wet session. Out of curiousity, what's the final size of the painting?
I love the effect, especially the blues and reds merging into the flesh tones. The concept is good, too. It certainly has that wizardly feel.

the laying down of the watercolors took about 10 minutes ... All in all I prolly worked on this 2 hours ... It is 8 inches by 10 inches.

Neat Painting Jeanette,
You have captured the magic in this one,
Self portrait as well?
Lovely color contrast,
Rod

Ok jnett, you told me you wanted seriousness when I look at your work...here goes...

I think you should arch the eyebrow a little more for her seriousness as a wizard. The hands are too arched...my hands could never do that, ouch! I like the rich colors you employed. Question - is she emerging from the universe?? The blueness looks like the universe to me. She empowers it. Oh, that pinky finger on the highest hand wouldn't be higher than the thumb http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Have I helped???

Warmth,

beautiful, Renae ... I wanted the hands to be as arched as possible because she is creating the center figure ... I agree that is probably an impossible position ... I imagined the blue to be the rear figure's gown, but the infinty of space and time sounds fine to me;-); and I agree about the eyebrow, do you find the right eye too low?
rod -I drew the background figure entiely from my head, so it is no self-portrait this time;-)
thanks, j*

Jnett,

It is just a tad off, but the eyebrows could be giving it that illusion.
