Easter Sunday may be sunny but ground colour is muted.
Winter runoff has left pools of water in the lowlying glades.
But spring greens will soon spring forth and become those cool mature greens of summer.
Here are three views in pastel - Rembrandt, Sennelier, Richeson on Uart 800 and sandpaper.

C&Cs welcome!

There's a lot of mood in those muted colors. These are really nice, Leslie! I like how you suggest all the stuff on a forest floor without getting too detailed.

These are all very beautiful and have fabulous atmospheres; I'm especially fond of the second one. :-)

My favorite is the middle one. Really feels like Spring. Thanks for sharing such lovely work.

They are all lovely. I also like the muted colors in the first one. The second one is especially appealing perhaps because it has lightness and airiness...The greens and the tree trunks are light and fresh. I like the graceful arrangement of trees which lead the eye to the distance. I like reds and cool greens in the third. There is a sense of being surrounded by full foliage.

I really like all three of these paintings, they make me want to get outside and try a landscape myself! I particularly adore the fresh, vibrant colours in the middle artwork, love the atmosphere created in the top artwork and am very intrigued by the evocative darker blues and greens in the bottom painting.

Frances and Katie thanks for your comments!
These sketches are of a meadow I visit frequently with my dogs so I have lots of time to think about the seasonal changes...while they cavort and try to get into trouble!
