You have done a nice job of pushing a bright hull and sails into the background on this Jim. Good work!
Probably a pun in here somewhere - pilot whales?

Well actually Dolphins, but I was reminded of the one that used to escort ships through the strait between North and South Island of New Zealand!.
I also thought of things like this, that happen at sea, when it is over so quickly, you wonder if you imagined it!.

lovely painting Jim. We have the killer whales off the shores of Napier each year they are amazing to see.

I posted a slightly diferent version of this a few weeks ago. It was supposed to go into the Easter exhibition at North Berwick. Unfortunately, on the way our Jack Russell 'Poppy' put her claws through the canvas in several places. Entirely my fault!.
One of my sons is a picture framer, so rather than dump the canvas I asked if he wanted to practice 'restoration' on it. Having patched it up and filled it he brought it back. I touched it up with matched paint as best I could, added the distant ship and a bit of cloud etc.
I think it works
