This portrait gave me a very hard time and I wanted to stop many times, but I'm glad I haven't because I think it's starting to turn out better now.
Love the reference photo, but it was almost all midtones and it was extremely difficult to model the face when the shadows and skintones are almost all the same tone. I had to resort to converting the reference to greyscale just so I can continue.
Struggling with the blond hair, but will come back to fix that once the faces are mostly done.
Still a long way to go! I probably can't work on this during the week, but maybe I can finish it next weekend or maybe the weekend after. I work veeerrry slowwwww.. So far this has taken about 10+ hours already and it's so small! (I'm so out of practice!)

Thanks, everyone, for the encouraging comments! :)
Just posting my current progress on this. Got sick over the weekend and I always get home so late from work, so I couldn't get much done. Anyway, it's moving forward somewhat.
Still working on the lovely lady on our right. Face isn't done yet -- I still have to add more shadows on the bottom of the chin and under the cheekbones.
I must stop this habit of using bad paper! I'm not able to add more graphite layers to bring out the dark shadows more. The paper just couldn't hold so many layers and it is starting to pill on some areas.

Nice graphite drawing.
Sorry for the late response, my computer was in the hospital.
