Aye Mates,
I went miniature on this piece, 2.5" X 5.5" on La Carte Pastel Card using Faber-Castell soft pastels and CarbOthello pastel pencils. A Dolmen viewed against the Irish night sky.

That's a nice composition, Mike, and a great little painting! I had to look up the word "Dolmen" so thanks for continuing my education. :) It must be striking to see this in person.

Thanks Donna. The megaliths do leave a lasting impression and their ancient origins leave one in awe.

This is my smallest pastel to date.

I had had to look up "dolmen" also...So a dolmen is a tomb, not just a megalithic structure like Stonehenge? This scene must be awesome to see at night as you have shown in your painting.
I admire your ability to work in minature.

Frances,
Thank ye much. Though I have seen this dolmen, t'was only in daylight. The night scene is strictly a derivation o' me imagination. This is me first attempt in a miniature format. I enjoyed the small format more than I anticipated.

Very nice! Great work especially for such a small size. I learned something new today (dolmen) :)

Isn't painting small addictive? I learn so much more quickly, and am able to experience completing a piece more often.
I appreciate the way the moonlight glances off the stones.
