Nice one Christel.. I believe you could contrast the colors more, like lighter the yellows and darker the browns to enhance the main character... someone of the great painters said "exaggerate the light"

Thanks for your input Fedetony. Strange that you should say that as I've changed quite a bit to the painting already. As I cannot post the original photo I've digitally altered the painting to suite the original painting more. The shade part of the lions in the photo is actually cool grey/blue color and not the warm color as indicated.

ok I see you went into the other direction... is fine also... I would suggest now to darken or complete a bit in the right the branches to the border in the right, having a constant fill factor of the space so looks that it continues...
defining a bit more the tail of the cup in and maybe insinuating it more, Because you blurred it and looks like a spot of the background,
and lastly add very fine and defined whiskers to both cats in white.

This sweet scene is really remarkable, Christel!

A lovely scene, I think your painting is beautiful. I like the contrast in the background between the dark tangled area on the right (where I think the cub is trying to get to!) and the light open space on the left. The scene between mum & cub is wonderful. :)

I really like the darkened version, Christel. It pushes the background farther away for better aerial perspective. Nice!

Beautiful scene! The trees in the background are great. They have detail but do not detract from the main subject. Love the cub's fur and variation in markings.
