This majestic bear is named Bella and she is two years old. She lives out in Montana at a Grizzly bear rescue organization that obtains and rehabilitates seized and injured bears. Bella was left to fend for herself at too young an age when her mother was shot and her body left to the buzzards.

A dear friend of mine is a wild life and equine photographer, who gives me free rein to paint from any of her photos. I chose Bella because her story touched me and am planning on donating this painting to the rescue to be auctioned off at their fund raiser this summer. And get to see Bella for real!

18" x 20" on MT Touch using Pan Pastels, Giraults, TLs and various pencils.

Much appreciated, bobbymac! The lighting is what drew me to this woman's amazing photography in the first place. The subject needed to be painted! Thank you!

This is a very nice, well painted work of art. The organization should be very happy for the donation.

Cat, you did a great job with Bella! The fur is gorgeous. I hope the painting brings in lots of money for a very good cause.

All of your comments are so appreciated! Thank you, Jess, Peggy and Donna.

I am so looking forward to my trip out to Montana to be part of this wonderful cause and to get to meet my muse, Bella and the other fabulous bears she shares her home with.

Love this, Cat! Beautiful work on fur and capturing the overall personality and character of the bear. When in Montana, be watchful as you walk through the woods, as there are griz wandering about...:)

Thank you all for your lovely comments. So much appreciated, Ron, Perry, Frances, Sherry and Mike!

Ron, you can be assured there will be no wandering around through the woods on my own! I learned from Jeremiah years ago what a griz can do! (one of my fave movies too!)
