This scratchboard is 14" x 18", coloured with Ampersand inks. I couldn't decide if she is roaring or laughing, but I think she is a magnificent animal. Hope you like her. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/08-Mar-2017/1085632-Portrait_of_a_Leopard_sml.jpg

Barbra,
Your Leopard piece is absolutely stunning! I love the intricate detail, texture, coloring, and rescratching to add dimension and detail. I would love to try scratchboard this year. Any recommendations on online tutorials?

Again, love your work and look forward to seeing more in the future. By the way, if I may ask- How long did this piece take you to complete?

Regards,

Rob

Thank you all for your kind words, this is me, I like detail and am in awe of natures masterpieces, therefore I try to recreate.
Rob from your words you seem to understand the process for scratchboard, achieving dimension is as you say a process of layering/re-scratching.
When I first started I could find very little re tutorials - best place really is the scratchboard forum on WC. After that it is just practice. I never time my work (a bit scary), but I guess I started the leopard a week ago. Cheers all!

She is magnificent! The expression does convey something between a roar and maybe something playful. She looks content despite her ferocious teeth and expression. You've captured a personality in this work. Excellent job with the colors, and those bold, thick whiskers are the icing on the cake. Way to go!

she is beautiful. I think she is chittering at a bird the way our own domestic cats do when watching birds from the window.
