This is my 3rd pet portrait for a family member. "Digby" is a one year old Whippet with very expressive ears. I experimented with black Canson paper and used pencils, T.L's and other soft pastels. 11x14. Any and all reactions / suggestions are welcome.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/03-Mar-2017/93782-Digby.jpg

Pet personalities captured on paper preserve the memories of our four legged friends forever. Ears down, this could have been any Whippet, but with the angle of the raised ear, you and family members know it's a special one. I like that you incorporated some of the colors in his coat into the blanket.

He's lovely. Well done. I like his eyes. I used to have whippets and now mind two, plus an Italian Greyhound, for a friend. You have captured his expression well.

His ears and eyes are so expressive and I love the texture of his nose too! Very nice, Frances!

Thank you Karen. Your statement gives me motivation to persevere with pet portraits!
Thank you Penny. I appreciate the comments, especially considering your experience with whippets and greys.
Thanks Lucyloo!
Thank you Donna. This dog was so beautiful to begin with...Enormous eyes and, of course, the ears.

Thanks Bob. "Getting" the white was not easy...It seemed to be a different color in every photo I had.
Cheers Mike!

As a person with a greyhound I'd say you nailed it. We call it having a "bad ear day." Mine is older and her ears generally stay where they need to be.
