Lovely portrait of a beautiful kitty. Very nice work on the eyes and fur textures.
It was suggested to me once by another WC member that I should attempt to attach the animal to the side and/or bottom of the painting on pet portraits. In their opinion floating heads were a bit "wonky". Obviously do as you wish but over time I have found that I agree with their assessment. Hope you do not mind but I've taken the liberty to crop your image to help illustrate their opinion. In this instance showing a little more chest would improve my crop

Nice work on the kitten. I also agree that not having the head floating in space makes for a better overall presentation.

Oh my goodness, who could resist giving a home to that beautiful, sweet face? Very nicely done!

What a sweet painting of this kitten. I want to pet that furry little body! You've done a great job of painting all the colors in the eyes too.

Only if you want to. I've seen many portraits by professional artists who use the same technique as you have used. There is another " theory" that says the exact opposite of attaching the image at one side; that one says if you do that it makes the portrait look as though it is falling off the page.

IMHO you did a good job of softening the fur around the bottom of the neck as though it has become a part of the background. This way it doesn't look as though it is a cut-out pasted in place on the paper. But to each their own. :)

Adorable!
I agree with Peggy. I prefer the uncropped version. An unfinished area at the bottom implies what is below and does not at all look cut off to me.

I like the way you did it with the original image. Just beautiful. Perfect, I would not change a thing.

I was actually just being polite :)

I agree that an abrupt hard line at the neck makes the animal look like it's been decapitated but a fading out I think is quite painterly...
