View Full Version : **** 2016 WDE HALL of FAME ****
We would like each participant to post ONE of your own images selected from all the WDEs you have done in 2016, in this thread!
Pick your favorite, your best, your worst, your breakthrough, your experiment, whatever you want, but just one. You can tell something about it if you like, or just mention which WDE it was (if you still know).
And post the link if you could, would be nice too.
We'd like to keep the thread to our image postings, without commenting on each other's work this time, so the thread won't get too unwieldy. Comment-only posts will be removed.
We will stick this thread for a few months.
Btw, you can find many years' worth of WDE Hall of Fame threads Here (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1369809). It's worth a peek if you haven't seen them before!

After years of portraits this image from a WDE was an eyeopener for me. During the WDE I made a small painting of it but a few weeks later I made this one, 4x4', acrylics on canvas. New York, 42nd street.

My favourite for last year is probably this one from 18th September, in a WDE hosted by Maureen. The challenge was to include something drawn from life and I had good fun with this one.

This was done in August 2016 and link is HERE (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1411288) It taught me the vital importance of leaving lots of white (of the paper) in any watercolor.

2016 was my first year participating in WDEs, and I started painting with acrylics at about the same time. One thing I love about the WDEs is trying out all kinds of subjects I wouldn't have come across, especially this one. You just don't often see a group of people racing in banana outfits. This was the Oct. 2 WDE, hosted by Li.

This is my favorite one. It has reminded me of our own crow, who has lived with us for many years; he made us laugh so many times, and he made us cry, when he disappeared one winterday.

This was an image from one of my own hostings and is my favourite for the year. I took random shots of everyday things and was surprised when this simple painting had such a powerful effect on me. The items belong to my Mother and she uses them every day and the painting speaks to me of her and how quickly things change but some things always stay the same.

i wasn't around as much last year, so i didn't have as much to choose from as i usually have. these guys were from November 25 WDE hosted by 'ncgirl' (Sandra). i just like the simplicity of the strokes and the whimsical nature of this drawing.

This is an ink and watercolor sketch. The ink work is lighter irl and doesn't jump out as much as it does in the scan. I repainted a larger version later in the year that was all watercolor.
