Another burning I did on a small piece of basswood using three different burners. I had seen other wood burnings where people used white paint for highlights so I decided to use a little bit of white charcoal for the highlights and I was happy with the outcome.

Thanks everyone! I just finished coating this with polyurethane so it is now a golden honey color. I was wondering if laquer would have been a better choice but I don't know. I wish this forum had a pyrography or wood craft section where I could get tips from other woodworkers.

Beautifully done! I like the intensity of this piece.

You're in luck! A new forum was recently opened here at WetCanvas for woodworkers and wood arts. I'm not sure if there's much pyrography there yet, but it would certainly be welcome. You can follow the link to get there. :)

The "Sculpture" forum has a variety of wood burning work...I'm not sure if there is any with just wood burning, but there are a number of pieces that have carved pieces and wood burning details. I have several in that forum.

Thank you! I'll definitely check it out. The only reason I was posting here is because it was artwork of animals. I am currently working on a wood carved scorpion that will have a little bit of burning on it and I will post it there instead of here.

You might like to post it in both places!...as well as posting this one in the other forum as well!
