'Bella'

I use the following brands of pastel pencils... Faber Castell Pitt, Derwent and Caran D'ache, on Sand Pastelmat

My first time painting a horse in this medium, and I asked on my FB page for a photo of a coloured horse (so brown/black and white hair) with a bridle, as I wanted to challenge myself, and I have to say that bridle was flipping fiddly to do..

Im still not sure what is best to draw the main outline with, so I go for a dark and light pastel

WOW! Lovely. It was great to follow your progress and see the horse appear out of the page. It definitely pays to use a good pastel paper.

Well done. Funny, I love doing tack on horses. It might have been fiddly, but you certainly pulled it off.

Thank you, I must do one of my own horses next, both are Appaloosas and very spotty, Ive done one of them in Acrylics before, but it will be good practice to do them in pastels, and together as they are mother and son

I think horses are my absolutely favourite thing to draw and I LOVE seeing other people's equine artwork. However even though I ride, I usually (always) manage to mess up the tack when I draw it; I think I need to steal a bridle from the stables and just practice it LOL ;)

This is just gorgeous and the bridle is beautifully done. :)
