This is a total re-work of a painting I started but did not finish a couple of years ago. the size is 910x605mm. On this one I have made up my own canvas and prepared it for painting. After blocking in the background I have started from the bottom left and working my way up the canvas. After drawing the image onto the canvas I have gone over the edges of the images with a Biro pen, I have found the these edges will show through the oils so I can go over the images without losing anything.

You badly need to merge the sky and sea at the horizon, so that there is practically (no) discernible difference between the two

That is a great way of achieving distance

Right now you have a wonky horizon .... it will eliminate that little problem

The foreground is looking good :)

Really enjoying doing this painting another update. Len I decided not to merge the horizon on this one and you will see I have straighten it, I had to let it dry first before I did that. The horizon I have done is what I photographed a while ago it fascinated me that there was a glow above the edge of the sea then the clouds. from the reports of the raid on the day when the Anzacs spotted the convoy the weather had just lifted in the area and behind them was still bad.

I like the aircraft flying overhead, with the ships and water below. It adds a whole lot of depth to this work and makes it very interesting to look at! You guys are brave (and really good!), drawing, right on top of the canvas!

been working on the ships and blocked in the main beau fighter ready for colouring and detailing. I have outlined four other beau fighters that will be in the painting.http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg579/longforgan/0001_zpsq4eyopvj.jpg (http://s1244.photobucket.com/user/longforgan/media/0001_zpsq4eyopvj.jpg.html)

There is a chance that the white vertical runnng up through the primary Beaufighters nose could make it appear static. Something to keep an eye on.

Still very much work in progress. All the aircraft are now in position, the area still to work on is the main aircraft, the sea on the left side the small a/c
