Thank you. Did some work on Nico, the blue Italian Greyhound. Need to add a blue tinge, I think.

Looking great Penny. Greyhounds are such elegant dogs and you have caught that nicely.

Thank you Chammi. Yes, lovely breeds. I am waiting for the painting to dry so I can erase some of the pencilling, then will add more shading. The commissioner wants a pale blue background and is happy to have their heads like this, without bodies. I need to add highlights in their eyes.

I cropped it for uploading - there is more border all round (the dog at the top left isn't off the edge of the painting) so it should look better when it has a mount and a frame.

Thank you, Emile, Barbara and Sheryl.

The piece of cartridge paper was given me by a cartographer and I wasn't sure how it would take watercolour. Luckily, I don't use wet on wet very much, or I think it would buckle. I used an area approx 15" x 15".

Ludo, at the top, and Rollo, on the right, measures 8" x 6" and Nico the Italian Greyhound, in the middle, measures 5" x 6".

going well so far... I think you need a background that makes the figure stand out... do you have an idea of how that will look?

I've worked enough on this, I think. If it was for myself, I would have a darker blue background.

It always surprises me when I am part way through a painting and there the dogs are, looking out of the paper!

Fedetony - I would have chosen a darker background, but the pale blue was what was requested.

Thank you, Dave. It's being stuck onto board by the framer to smooth out wrinkles and a cream mount and limed frame have been chosen. When it's back from the framer, I will post a final photo.

Thank you, everyone, for your support and comments. It was quite scary, being my first commission, and me being a real amateur!
